Got much better after a certain event

The story got significantly better after a certain section, because of the event, it seemed that Ran got her shit together unlike the earlier chapters. There was not much a consistent storyline, it seemed more to focus on random events occurring in the characters lives with a few main plot lines sprinkled in. Favorite character I liked the most is the brother. Cause he literally was logical unlike the mom and sister. I wished there was more info on the family relationship. More perspective from the brother and how he views his family, specifically his mom.

I had high expectations for this one, but this fell short. I think it's because I couldn't connect with any of the characters. I have no idea what was going on in Ran's head - I guess she was a kid though, so what did I expect? Regardless, I'm not sure if it was the storytelling or what, but I felt very disconnected from the story and couldn't get into it.

Not really a spoiler, but tagging anyway because why not:

I did NOT like Outarou. I think it would have been great if his character didn't exist at all or if he had been written a different way. I just thought he was super creepy. The relationship between Hibi and Ran was super sweet though. I enjoyed their scenes together.

Ran and the gray world is the story about a little girl who has an extraordinary amount of magic. Its a slice of life series however there is a story here as well. And unlike most SOL that try to blend plot together this one actually did it surprisingly well. Now this series took me by surprise. I wasn't exactly sure what the series was about as in the beginning it actually looked like an age gap romance however it became much more than that. Now some of the characters fell flat and the main romance was.. weak. The series did almost everything well. The side romances, the story the artwork, the tension the angst. All of it was well done and addicting but the age gap romance was poor. Age gap itself is a thin line which done well is exceptional and shows the quality of the author but done poorly leaves an incredibly bad aftertaste. And the author doubled down on the poor age gap romance rather than loosening it. Now i liked the other romances in this series as well as pretty much everything else. With the exception of the age gap all the other poor parts of this series were actually minor when you consider the series as a whole. And i definitely absolutely loved certain parts of it. Now the older in the age gap romance was actually the most interesting character so it wasn' a complete situation. Overall the age gap brings the series down from Epic to just awesome instead. Also the author clearly has a fetish for older rough men.

8/10 100% check it out

This is a very good manga. I can't say it's the best I've read, but it's very very high up on the list.
My evaluation ends up being an interesting set of contrasts:
The art is superb, yet as I look back on it, I realize that the range of expressions isn't as large as I thought it was.
Real character development is limited to basically only one character (with some other worthy mentions), but the ending is one of the best I've read because it really explores that development.
I didn't really feel like the magic in this manga was anything special, yet it was satisfying nonetheless. The same holds true for the combat or the slight mysticism.

All in all, these contrasts give the manga a bit of a Slice-of-Life feeling, yet I certainly wouldn't call it of that genre.
It is worth your read, and you'll probably enjoy exploring the juxtapositions too.

It was a beautiful and very interesting manga. Its something I re-read a few times especially specific chapters that I loved. I wish for more of it but I also have no idea what else could it do so ill just go and cry about it to myself like I do with some other manga I miss.
I was personally focused more on the main characters and their cute moments then the dramatic main plot which I think was good but I didn't personally focus on.
I just want to say that it was an enjoyable read but it had some moments that it was boring and skimmed through so it's not 10/10 but still I think highly of it.

The story starts great, it continues greatly, and it concluded just as great. But then it refuse to end. Author add chapters and yet another chapter to feed readers with everything related to the characters in this manga, however minor. It's like listening to your old favorite music, except for a week non-stop. There will be time when your fondness turned to hate. That is how this manga do.

Characters are cute and charming. They're consistent as well. Setting's interesting. Pacing's great. Art's fabulous. A 9/10 if it ended in time.

The greatest gripe people has on this series is pedophilic tone. Pfft, there's nothing pedophilic here. Consider this question, if you found a pot in a kitchen, it looks like a pot, felt like a pot, function like a pot, would you not use it like a pot even if it is a pan in disguise? Sock it people. Get the distinction between what you know and what those characters know!

What a charming little story...

"Don't treat me like a kid!" I saying that a lot as a kid. Our main character Ran was just like me. This is a story about a bright, adorable 10-years old sorceress-in-training and her lovely magical family. The young child sees the world around her and wants to grow up quickly--and she finds a way to transform her body into that of a grown-up's! She goes on many little adventures and meets new people along the way in her irresistibly charming adult form--and learns along the way that having the body of an adult doesn't make her grown-up.

WHAT I LIKED / PROS:
It explored themes of death, puppy love, idolization, escapism, heartbreak, grief, and growing up.

At some point in our lives, we all yearned to be a part of the adult world, and then we fell in love for the first time, made our very first true friend, found our little hearts broken, mourned the death of someone we treasured, lashed out on those around us, felt guilty, and learned to heal our wounded souls. We all had to learn the world wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, and that even then, our complicated world was beautiful and worth living for.

This whimsical tale is filled with cute minor magic techniques, creative characters, beautiful sparkling shoujo hair, and character growth. It is nostalgic and sweetly melancholic to see Ran (the little girl) evolve as a person and a magician. This is a story filled with heart, and I love how we see glimpses of the lives of those around her be affected by Ran's bubbling optimism, creative kiddy schemes, and warmth.

WHAT I DISLIKED / CONS:
The story was hard to follow at times, and I feel like this series should've moved at a slower pace and it should have paid more attention to the specific moments that caused character development. Because everything moved so quickly and because there were so many things happening all at once, the characters' bonds with each other felt shallow since I never saw what led up to their feelings for each other.

What made A hate B? What does C like about D? How did E fall so deeply for F and become willing to sacrifice everything for F? These questions were never fully explored.

In conclusion, RAN TO HAIIRO NO SEKAI had a lot of potential to be better. The setting was gorgeously magical, the characters are lovable and diverse, the themes were important, the plot was intriguing and refreshing... but the execution of these things fell flat. The story-telling itself was bad, and the good ideas this author had never were fully realized.

This story makes me sad because it has everything needed to make it really really good, but was not as good because of the shallow story-telling. Nonetheless, RAN TO HAIIRO NO SEKAI is a charming whimsical story full of adorable magic! I still recommend it to anyone that enjoys a good "on-the-path-to-adulthood" story.

Okay, frankly at the beginning, it was really weird and messy but then I got used to it. The girl was originally very very whimsical (okay 3/4 of the whole manga), but she IS a child. It was kinda creepy at first with Outaro but well, at least he was a nice dude in the end. All in all, if you like the character Hibi Makoto, looking forward to his scenes makes everything better.♡♡♡
