This is one of the few manga I've read that truly touched my heart. It's irable how Fukumoto Nobuyuki skillfully portrays the trials and tribulations of a blue-collar worker thoroughly caught up in mid-life crisis. The weight of despair, loneliness, and numerous failures throughout life - all culminating to make a man feel wretched, pitiful and adrift was so well presented that I could almost... 3o4h12

This is the kind of manga that you definitely shouldn't read if you're feeling depressed. It's a cold, hard, unsympathetic and merciless look into the cruellest, most selfish, most twisted parts of society and human nature.

Iida is the kind of personality you rarely see in fiction, especially as the protagonist. He's icy-cold, strong-willed, calm, pragmatic in the extreme, and 100% sure of who he...

This is one of those series which surprised me. I have often been disappointed by how shallow and unattractive most manhwa are, and how, when compared to mangaka, most manhwaga seem to be definitely lacking in ability. I only read DWYW out of boredom, not expecting anything much...and was quite amazed when I finished all 7 books in two days- a rare thing for me.

Of course, like any school life...

This is such a wonderful story- short but sweet, with a lot of tragedy mixed in with some really heartfelt moments that made me feel quite saddened and sympathetic towards the fate of the foursome as well as Nataku. Not many things can bring a lump to my throat, and the prequel to the Saiyuki saga (of which I am not a fan) was the last manga I expected to be able to do that- so I was quite taken...

...if you're a stickler for historical accuracy, it may not be to your taste. As the summary implies, Sayonara Sorcier is an unusual take on the life of Vincent van Gogh through the eyes of his younger brother and closest confidant, Theodorus.

Though the plot revolves around the artist, the protagonist is his brother; and while the strong bond between the siblings born mainly of Theo's devotion to...

For years I dismissed this because I thought it'd be twisted and disgusting, but as I grew older the idea of "professional voyeurism" became intriguing enough to push me to read. I'm quite happy with my choice, as the concept was unique and the execution quite amusing.

Oddly enough, the unrepentant social deviant Takuro - the protagonist's 'mentor' and eventual partner-in-crime - slowly grew on me...

...actually a strictly emotion-centric story. Since that's not at all the impression given out by the summary, the disappointment a lot of readers have expressed is understandable. Basically, the plot of Clover is a mere excuse to explore themes related to loneliness, the search for a place to belong, and the isolation experienced by those who're different from the masses in an obvious way and are...

...the over-abundance of poetic justice prevents it from becoming truly memorable. I'm okay with contrived tales of "karmic retribution" a la Kisshou Tennyo, wherein the heroine is rewarded with vengeance as a result of her bravery, sacrifice, wit and manipulation, but women like Ayako who're granted justice just by sitting around looking pretty and somehow instilling within half the men who meet...

There were so many things the author could've done with that premise and that cast of characters... But in the end, Mo'some Sting ended up with very simplistic, almost disted, storytelling that squandered any meaningful message it might have been attempting to convey by dint of its vague and easy-going narrative style and dialogue that was grossly unsuited to the kind of material the author...
